CANS FOR KIDS WINTER SALE AND FUN DAY
Our Winter Sale took on a new dimension this year - we added all sorts of attractions for the children: bouncy castle, face painting and lots of games. The refreshments stall expanded to include a barbecue offering hot dogs and boerewors, and Starbucks provided coffee. Visitors also had the chance to see and find out more about the new Toyota Prius hybrid car in a static display.
In the run-up to the sale, donations of clothing, books, toys and bric-a-brac poured in, so we had a lot of bargains to offer - and nothing went to waste afterwards: left over clothing was delivered to the Philippines Typhoon Appeal, remaining bric-a-brac given to the Nicosia Dog Shelter and St Paul's for their next sales.
There was a great atmosphere all afternoon, thanks largely to the wonderful live music provided by Conor McLean and Zeyn Mroueh, both talented musicians breaking onto the Cyprus music scene.
The highlight of the day was the drawing of the Grand Raffle, which - thanks to the generosity of many local businesses, and especially to British Airways and Louis Cruises, who offered the top two prizes - raised a considerable sum for Cans For Kids.
