Cans For Kids this week expanded its island wide network with the inauguration of four can banks in Polis Chrysochous on the west coast.
At a ceremony to mark the occasion, Cans For Kids President Olga Demetriades thanked the Mayor of Polis, Angelos Georgiou, for the municipality’s invaluable help in getting the scheme started, and for their pledge to collect the cans and store them pending collection by Cans For Kids. “As a Nicosia-based charity with most of the work done by volunteers, we could not have included a far-flung town like Polis in our plans without the support of Mr Georgiou and the municipality” she said.
She also thanked the corporate sponsors of the can banks: Aristo Developers, Parador Properties, Crystal Marine and Tala Design Villas, whose representatives were present at the inauguration, along with an enthusiastic crowd of Polis residents, eager to put Polis on the recycling map.
The can banks will be located at the main square, the gymnasium, the car park opposite the Co-Op and in Latchi.
